White Rhino Dart Hunts, Zululand 1.

South Africa

We offer an alternative and less expensive way of adding a white rhino to your trophy collection

We have several venues available in South Africa, which allow the hunter to track and dart a selected white rhino for scientific research or veterinary purposes. Your Professional Hunter and tracker would accompany you with a vet and assistants in a back-up vehicle or helicopter.

With all the thrills and challenges of a dangerous game hunt, you will stalk the rhino to a range of 20-30 metres and shoot it with a dart gun. Once the animal is down and asleep you may take photographs as with any successful trophy hunt, assist the vet and take rhino measurements.

You may then choose to have a fibreglass replica trophy made of your rhino using the photographs and recorded dimensions.

In KwaZulu Natal, we offer two excellent standards of accommodation – a bush camp with thatched chalets and a luxury tented camp. Both have superior cuisine, swimming pools and other safari activities available which are ideal for a non-hunting observer.

Costs 1×1:

There is a swimming pool in each camp. All camps have full electrical power, either mains or solar. Daily maid service is included in your safari price but there is a small charge for laundry.

HUNTING VEHICLE: You will be provided with a modern, reliable, open top, 4×4-hunting vehicle which is included in your price.

TYPE OF HUNTING: The hunting is always conducted to the principles of fair chase. Usually we spot game from the vehicle and then stalk on foot. There is no shooting from the vehicle. The Rhino Dart Hunt:

There are 12 white rhinos to be darted here next year to have microchips placed in their horns and for a veterinary check-up at the same time. None of these animals have been darted for 2 years – the front horn measurement of one of them then, was 28 ½ inches. This same male rhino will be the first to be dart hunted in 2004. Many of the female rhinos here have longer front horns than the males.

As this is a conservation project, the landowner has reserved the right to invite any photographic safari guests to see the rhino AFTER you have taken all your own photographs and the veterinary procedures have been completed. They may watch the rhino being woken up but in no way will interfere in your hunt.

The hunt will be for duration of 4 days & 5 nights. Should you get your rhino early in the hunt, you may wish to do some plains game hunting at the above listed trophy prices.
