White Rhino Dart Hunts, Limpopo, Zululand.

Categories:
PUBLIC SHOOTS/HUNTS
South Africa

We offer an alternative and less expensive way of adding a white rhino to your trophy collection.

We have several venues available in South Africa, which allow the hunter to track and dart a selected white rhino for scientific research or veterinary purposes. Your Professional Hunter and tracker would accompany you with a vet and assistants in a back-up vehicle or helicopter.

With all the thrills and challenges of a dangerous game hunt, you will stalk the rhino to a range of 20-30 metres and shoot it with a dart gun. Once the animal is down and asleep you may take photographs as with any successful trophy hunt, assist the vet and take rhino measurements. You may then choose to have a fibreglass replica trophy made of your rhino using the photographs and recorded dimensions.

TERRAIN: Gently rolling hills dropping down to the edges of a large lake on the eastern side and climbing to the Lebombo Mountains in the west. The vegetation is mostly thick bushveldt with some areas of open grassland.

WEATHER: The best time of year to hunt here will be April to September, which is the winter here. It will be cool in the mornings and evenings and pleasantly warm during the day.

ACCOMMODATION: Extremely comfortable twin-bedded rondavels/bungalows with en suite flush toilets and shower facilities. There is hot and cold running water at all times. There is a swimming pool in each camp. All camps have full electrical power, either mains or solar. Daily maid service is included in your safari price but there is a small charge for laundry.

MEALS: Full board that usually takes the form of a light snack with coffee/tea first thing in the morning, a big cooked brunch mid to late morning after hunting and dinner in the evening. All soft drinks are included in your price.

HUNTING VEHICLE: You will be provided with a modern, reliable, open top, 4×4-hunting vehicle which is included in your price.

TYPE OF HUNTING: The hunting is always conducted to the principles of fair chase. Usually we spot game from the vehicle and then stalk on foot. There is no shooting from the vehicle. Blinds may be used if bow hunting or still-hunting certain species. Your Professional Hunter and tracker will accompany you at all times when out hunting.

NON-HUNTING ACTIVITIES: There are many different activities available in the area for small additional costs. Within the concession there is elephant and rhino tracking expeditions and tiger fishing in the lake. Short drives away are the National Parks of Hluhluwe, Italia and Mkuze and a Zulu cultural centre. The Indian Ocean with deep-sea fishing, diving and beach facilities is a little further away but worth considering for a visit after your hunt perhaps.

Rhino replica taxidermy work & trophy shipping; trophy fees on any animal taken or wounded on plains game hunt; taxidermy work & shipping of plains game trophies; rifle/ammunition rental.

Please note: These prices are based on using a maximum of 2 dart shots per rhino. Additional darts required will be charged at US$150 per dart.
